    Checklist

    Preparing for your first appointment

What happens at a consultation, what to bring, and the questions worth asking before you commit to anything.

LMC Slimming Centre, Lyttelton, Centurion. Reading time roughly 4 minutes.

Your first appointment at LMC Slimming Centre is a consultation, not a treatment. It costs R300 and it exists so that the plan you are offered is built around your body rather than picked off a price list.

That distinction matters. Most people arrive having already read about cryolipolysis or cavitation and half-decided which one they want. Sometimes that instinct is right. Often the area they are worried about turns out to involve loose skin or weak muscle underneath as much as fat, and treating only the fat would have left most of the problem in place.

    Checklist

    Before you come

    • Wear something comfortable and easy to move in. A two-piece outfit is easiest, since the area you want assessed will need to be seen properly.
    • Skip heavy body lotion or oil on the area that day.
    • Drink water beforehand and come reasonably hydrated.
    • Have a rough idea of your budget. Programmes range from R1,900 to R5,500 and knowing your ceiling saves time on both sides.
    • Bring a list of any medication you take, and note any medical conditions, implants or recent surgery. Several of the technologies have specific contraindications and this needs to be raised before anything is planned.
    • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, say so when you book. Most contouring treatments are not appropriate during this time.

If you want to start treatment on the same day as your consultation, mention it when you book so enough time can be set aside.

    The Consultation

What actually happens in the room

You will talk first. The conversation covers what is bothering you, what you have already tried, your general health, and what you are hoping to see change. This is the part that shapes everything else, so it is worth being direct rather than polite about what you actually want.

Then the area gets assessed properly. What is being worked out is the mix of what you are dealing with: how much of the concern is fat, how much is skin laxity, and how much is a lack of muscle tone underneath. That mix determines which technologies go into your plan and in what order.

You will be told plainly what is realistic for your body and your timeline. If a programme is unlikely to give you what you are picturing, you should hear that at the consultation rather than four weeks into a course.

    Checklist

    Questions worth asking

A good consultation can handle scrutiny. These are fair questions and you should expect straight answers to all of them.

    • Which technologies are you recommending for me, and why those rather than the others?
    • What kind of change is realistic for my body in four weeks?
    • How many sessions will this take, and how often will I need to come in?
    • What does the full programme cost, and is there anything on top of the package price?
    • What do I need to do between sessions for this to work properly?
    • What happens if I do not see the change we discussed?
    • Is there anything about my health or medication that rules out part of this?

    After the Consultation

    What you leave with

By the end you should have a clear recommendation: which programme suits your concern, what it involves week by week, what it costs, and what is being asked of you between appointments.

You are under no obligation to book anything on the day. Taking the plan away and thinking it over is a reasonable thing to do, and a R300 consultation that ends in a considered no is a better outcome than a rushed yes.

    Consultation

    R300, payable at your appointment

Appointments are by booking. If you need to change or cancel, let us know as early as you can so the slot can go to someone else.

If you have an area that has stopped responding to everything you have tried, a consultation is the right place to start.

You will get a straight assessment of what these technologies can do for your particular concern, what it would take, and what it would cost. Including, if it comes to it, that you would be better served by something else.
